FAQs

Common questions

Do I need a structural engineer?

A structural engineer is typically required where there are concerns regarding the structural condition of a building, or where alterations, extensions or new construction works are proposed. We provide advice for homeowners, purchasers, architects, contractors, developers and commercial clients across a wide range of project types.

What’s the difference between a structural engineer and a surveyor?

Surveyors provide a broad assessment of a property’s overall condition, whereas structural engineers specialise in the performance, stability and integrity of structures. Surveyors will often recommend further investigation by a structural engineer where structural concerns have been identified or where specialist advice is required.

How quickly can you visit?

Site inspections can typically be arranged within a week of instruction. Where timescales are critical, we will always endeavour to accommodate urgent requirements wherever possible.

Can you help if cracks have appeared in my property?

Yes. Cracking, movement and structural defects are among the most common reasons clients contact us. We can investigate the likely cause, assess the significance of any defects observed and provide clear recommendations for any further action required.

Do you work with architects, contractors and developers?

Yes. Alongside residential projects, we regularly provide structural engineering support for architects, contractors, developers, commercial property owners and other construction professionals, from initial feasibility advice through to detailed design and site support.

Can you help before I buy a property?

Yes. We regularly undertake pre-purchase structural inspections for prospective purchasers seeking reassurance regarding the condition of a property or concerns raised by surveyors, lenders or insurers.

Do you undertake commercial projects?

Yes. We provide structural engineering services for commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments, including refurbishments, alterations, fit-outs, change-of-use projects, inspections and technical advisory commissions.

Direct Access. Practical Solutions.

Clients work directly with experienced engineers, benefiting from clear communication, pragmatic advice and a responsive service throughout the life of a project.
